Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Lectures

The Women and Gender Studies in Church & Society at CRCDS held it’s biannual “Christian Faith and the LGBT Experience” lecture on Sunday March 14, 2010.  Dr. H Darrell Lance, professor emeritus of Old Testament Interpretation offered a lecture entitled “What the Bible Really Say About Homosexuality. “Seventy-five people from several area churches and members of the CRCDS community gathered at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for this insightful, profound and witty lecture. In one hour Dr. Lance skillfully provided an overview of homosexuality, setting the context; then proceeded to debunk the “clobber text” from the Old and New Testaments. Dr. Lance reviewed the forty or so years of scholarship with these text; thus providing those gathered with a clear understanding of the use and abuse of the Bible to limit the voice and leadership of LGBT person in society and faith community. For those wishing to hear an audio recording of the lecture in full, please click here
